Euthanasia Prevention Coalition

The Euthanasia Prevention Coalition exists to build a well-informed broadly-based network of groups and individuals to create an effective social barrier to euthanasia and assisted suicide. Our goal is to help build a stronger unified coalition of those who oppose euthanasia and assisted suicide.

Dear Friends:

Second Reading of Bill C-384 is now scheduled for December 2nd. Our October newsletter contains a summary report on the first-hour of debate. It confirms the responses from Members of Parliament (MP) that we were receiving from our supporters.

While we are confident that this bill will be defeated, we must continue to build opposition to C-384 by focusing on why euthanasia and assisted suicide is always wrong. We must convince MPs to move from opposing C-384 based on a the need to improve end-of-life care first - to opposing euthanasia and assisted suicide because it is wrong and threatens the lives of vulnerable Canadians.

In our November newsletter, you will see that we are very concerned about the panel that was established by the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) to research End-of-Life Decision-Making. It is obvious that this expert panel is a one-sided pro-euthanasia committee. Unless they change the configuration of the panel, its report will simply be rejected as biased. Write to Darren Gilmour, Royal Society of Canada, 170 Waller St., Ottawa ON K1N 9B9, and make your concerns known.

The recent Environics poll shows that Canadians do not strongly support euthanasia and want improved end-of-life care, rather than legalized euthanasia. This message will be conveyed to MPs.

Our annual Christmas Card fundraiser has begun. Support our work by ordering Classic Art Christmas Cards. Bulk orders rates are available to any group or individual.

We are selling quality coffee in one- pound bags as a fund-raiser for our work.$7.95 per bag or 3 bags for $20. Please include $10 for shipping and handling. Available in Dark or Regular roast.
